From the Rectory:

Thank you so much to everyone who joined us for our Licensing and first Sunday service. We were immensely encouraged by the inspirational singing, the Bishop’s challenging address and the moving welcome from so many of you both formally in the service and informally outside. I hope we will be able to fill the church at Theale again often in the near future.

We look forward very much to getting to know you all and working with you over the next weeks and months exploring together as the bishop charged us how we can be more effective ambassadors for Christ here in Theale and Englefield.

One way to do this is to learn more about the Bible and how it is relevant today. May I therefore warmly invite you to come to the Kirby rooms on Nov 1st at 7.30pm. Peter will be giving us a Bible overview. Have you ever wondered, for example, what the connection is between David and Goliath and the Cross of Christ? That Tuesday evening will be a good opportunity to see something of how God’s whole plan of salvation fits into place.  - Please come and find out

We are going to follow this with running 3 group sessions on ‘Preparing for Christmas’. These will take place fortnightly in the 6 weeks before Christmas. We are planning to run each session twice on a different night (provisionally Tuesday and Wednesday) to enable as many as possible to come and experience/enjoy reading and discussing the Bible in a small group. There will be sheets at the back of the church for people to sign if they would like to come and we will finalise days and venues after that. Don’t worry if you can’t make all three sessions – just come along – each will be self-contained.

As we talk and pray together about our task here it seems important to find a time when we can all meet and share our thinking. To this end we have booked the Kirby rooms in Englefield Road for a Parish get-together on ‘The Way Ahead’ on Saturday 26th November from 10.30am – 12.30pm finishing with an informal lunch at 12 noon (Please bring your own – tea and coffee provided )!

If we have not yet met you, please do introduce yourself and we would love to hear your thoughts about how you believe we should move forward together under God to serve Him here in Theale and Englefield and share with others the Good News of Jesus Christ.
